Busó Festival : On a Sunday of the Carnival

The Busós are a people of Sokatz origin, Slav people, who lived in Hungary during the period of Turkish invasion had decided one night to reoccupy their town of Mohács. They dressed up in their traditional costumes of animal skin and masques and appeared from the swamps where they were hiding. Making a lot of noise they entered the town...According to the legend, the Turks were so much terrified by these creatures that they immediately left the town

The Sunday of the carneval Busójárás, our national  heritage, part of the ’UNESCO heritage this year takes place 02th March. We invite you to experience this tradition!

To offer you the best view of the whole city your guide will first take you up to the historic Castle District.

You will see  Matthias Church and Fishermen's Bastion, stroll among the medieval houses to the former Royal Palace.

 To reach Pest side we drive you across the Chain Bridge. First you will see the magnificent building of the Parliament then St. Stephen Basilica nearby.  

 

The tour continues along Andrássy Avenue passing by the Opera House built in 19th century and the splendid villas lining the Avenue. On Heroes' Square you will explore the area with plenty of attractions erected in 1896 to commemorate the1000th anniversary of the  settlement of the Hungarians in Central Europe.

10h15-11h00 Climbing up to the top of the dome, to see the view of the area and for guided visit of the dome

11h00 – 11h15: Walk to the Post Museum

11h15 – 11h45: Guided visit of the museum with a splendid  interior

11h45-12h00:  Walk along the Andrássy Avenue to the Parisian Building, where walking through a book store, you get to a ball room with period furniture and paintings by the famous artist Károly Lotz. Caffee or tea of your choice is offered.

11h45-12h30:  Tasting sweet and savory rétes: 1 rétes filled with turkey in paprika sauce + 2 filled with apples and sweet cottage cheese
